China hutch re-do

A loooong time ago (June?  Yes, of 2011...I had a busy summer!) I saw this post on one of my favourite blogs - http://betterafter.blogspot.com/2011/06/not-so-nana-like-now.html and dreamed of having an old hutch to do that to.  I must have whined incessantly posted a lot about it on Facebook, because my friend let me know she had one hanging out in her barn or garage or something that I was welcome to.  yay!

Proof positive..

I've just received an email stating I'm no longer the Foursquare mayor of both my local Orange and Blue :(  This is definite factual proof that I haven't been as DIY as I should be for a while.  How depressing.

It's like opening a can of worms..

Today I decided to finish repairing those drywall-screw pops in the corner of the living room - which is the reason I have yet to do the second coat of paint.  I got the first coat up and was going to do the second the next day but then saw 3 pops in one corner.  Easy enough to fix, would only take 10 minutes to screw them in a few turns and slap on some spackle.  Wait a day to dry then paint!

Holy hell it's been 8 months.

Wow.  I knew it had been a while, but not THAT long.  Well, I take that back.  You know how you forget to do something and then you remember and think 'oh, I'll do that real soon now!' and then forget for a long while and then you remember and THEN you kind of start lying to yourself and making yourself forget again?  Yeeeeah, I hope that's not just me.

Ugly Boob Light

I finally got so sick of our ugly entryway boob light that I HAD to do something about it.  I bought some spray primer & satin nickel spray paint a while ago, meaning to just spray over the bright shiny fake brass to tide us over till we bought something we liked.  That was more than 6 months ago and this is what the light has looked like since then -

Hi!!!  I'm super excited about this post!  A good friend of mine down the street (I'm going to call them the Winos, because they always have wine and I love it) has started to jump on the DIY bandwagon updating her kitchen, and wanted an assist with the lighting situation.  It was ug-ug-ugly.  Classic early-90's brass horror -

I took the Little Boy to preschool then went to Orange to look at some options for a project I've been mulling over for a few days now (you'll see...eventually).  I didn't find what I really wanted, but I did figure some things out, so yay for my big brain.
